HOW YOU CAN HELP
Hmong Nationality Archives
Hmong Nationality Archives

You can help us make and preserve Hmong history by donating to the Archives materials about or by Hmong worldwide. Keep in mind that items that are not valuable to one person could be treasures to others. Your donation need not be organized. It need not be "antique like" and it need not be related to famous individuals, events or organizations in order for it to be of interest to the Archives.

While the Archives cannot keep everything offered to us, we very much want the opportunity to review the materials. Anything the Archive cannot keep will be referred to other institutions or repositories of interest.

Accepted donations will be cataloged into a database system and stored under the best archival and museum conditions. The collections will be made available through exhibits and publications. Students, genealogists, journalists, scholars and the general public are invited to use the collections as research material.

If you have some of the items mentioned above and are ready to be donated to the Archives, simply call, write, fax, or come in and talk to us directly. You can e-mail us at info@hmongarchives.org ,

or write to us at:

What Should Be Saved?

If you have Hmong-related materials, as mentioned above, please consider donating them to the Archives for preservation and research. Our message to you is that if you keep your Hmongcentric collection you will be lucky if another person see them after you're gone. However, if you donated to the Archives, we are most positive that many more generations to come will be able to utilize and benefit from them.

Materials of historical significance include, but are not limited to:

  • personal papers (letters, diaries, memoirs, family histories, scrapbooks, art sketches);
  • organizational records (letters, minutes, reports, financial records, newsletters);
  • museum items (three dimensional objects such as handicrafts, works of art, musical instruments, household items);
  • publications (research papers, theses, periodicals, books, pamphlets, programs, booklets);
  • media (photographs, slides, audio tapes, motion pictures, manuscripts, postcards, posters).
