On this page, we regularly have new exhibits for viewing. This exhibit will show you a few items out of 100,000 plus Hmong materials we have collected. We like to invite you to donate what you have to the Archive for preservation for our future generations. Below each exhibited items, there is a caption to help explain what they are and who donated it.

Language Barrier: This painting by Raymond F. Vang (1987) depicts the difficult transition for Hmong refugees when we first came to the United States. Without ears and a mouth symbolize the inability to understand and speak English. Donated by Dr. Cziasarh Neng Yang in 2003. Original oil painting on canvas, 11"x14".
United Nations Bowl: This plain and simple bowl was distributed by the United Nations in 1979 to Fai Her Xiong in Ban Vinai Refugee Camp. Fai Her kept the bowl for 20 years until he donated it to the Archive in 1999.

Lee Lue over Long Cheng: Donated by artist and Minnesota State Representative Cy Thao in 1998. This painting depicts the famous Hmong T-28 fighter pilot Lee Lue returning to Long Cheng air strip after successfully completing one of his 5,000 combat missions. Lee Lue's heroic accomplishments behind an airplane cockpit are incomparable in modern aviation. Original oil painting on canvas, 30"x36".

Break Time: Donated by Marlin L. Heise in 1999. This Lee Yang painting, depicting a young musician playing a Hmong violin called "Nkauj Nog Ncas", was purchased from Southeast Asian Ministry in the mid-1980s.

Secret Plane: This model airplane was made by Hmong students at HUBB Center, depicting an American airplane used in Laos during the Secret War, 1960-1975. It was purchased at the Asian American Renaissance Festival. Donated by Yuepheng Xiong in 1999.

New Year Ball: This is a Hmong New Year courtship ball made of styrofoam with Hmong paj ntaub design printed on it. Donated by Marlin Heise in 1999.
